Affirmation of grape growing regions and winemaking sector through the promotion of wine culture in Montenegro

Objectives:

  • The promotion and dissemination of proper wine culture and increasing the competitiveness of viticulture and winemaking sector in Montenegro.
  • Creation of a high level of awareness in the professional, as well as the general public, about the importance and potential of viticulture and wine sector in Montenegro.

Main activities and results:

  • Promotional event "Evening of Young Wines" organised, and young wines from the harvest of 2016 of the company "13. jul Plantaže", as well as 10 smaller Montenegrin wineries were presented.
  • Project web site was created: www.vinskakultura.me, so internet accessers have the opportunity to be informed about all activities of the project.
  • 5 seminars for different target groups (grape and wine producers, caterers, tourist organizations and wine lovers).
  • Company "13. jul Plantaže" has transferred experience and knowledge about process of grape and wine production to winery Rajković, where attention was focused on the old and insufficiently explored autochthonous grape variety Čubrica.
  • Consultants from the company "13. jul Plantaže" have been visiting the vineyards and cellars Rajković couple times, where they have transferred their knowledge and experience in the field of viticulture and oenology, from the cutting in vineyards to the end of the processing of grapes of the variety Čubrica. According to the project plan, in the cellar for microvinification has been processed the grape of the variety Čubrica, and produced wine from the Čubrica variety;
  • Publication of journal that will promote Montenegrin grape and wine producers is in progress.
  • Surveys dedicated to wider population, the HORECA system and small wineries in Montenegro were conducted, in cooperation with the Faculty of Food Technology, Food Safety and Ecology, University of Donja Gorica.
  • Agreement on cooperation between wine producers and restaurants;
  • Agreement on cooperation and strengthening the relationship between Montenegrin institutions and the company "13. Jul Plantaže "a.d.

Planned activities:

  • Eno - gastro courses - will be organized for the local population, where through the consumption of food and wine they will have the opportunity to learn more about wine service, food and wine matching, as well as health benefits of wine.
  • Wine tours - will be organized for caterers, tourist organizations and other participants from realized seminars, where they will have the opportunity to visit the company "13. jul Plantaže", as well as wine regions in Montenegro.
